An Ohio school teacher and Christian woman files lawsuit after being forced to resign for not conforming with the new ‘pronoun policy’, cited religious conflict.

Massillon, OH: Former middle school teacher, Vivian Geraghty, is fighting back after she was forced to resign for questioning a new policy that required staff to participate in what is known as the “social transition” of students.

For the small percentage of students who have previously “transitioned” into what they believe is the appropriate gender, the school district mandated that teachers refer to the students with the new, proper pronoun.

However, Geraghty, a Christian woman, had expressed concerns to management over the new policy on the grounds of her religious beliefs.

But even before Geraghty was ever exposed to a student who fell under the new guidelines, she was forced to resign for merely expressing her concerns. In fact, she was ejected from the school within two hours after telling the school principal, Kacy Carter about her religious beliefs according to her lawsuit.

One of the responses Geraghty was given was that she was to “be required to put her beliefs aside as a public servant” in order to comply with the new directive.

This is why Align US was created. We aim to give people a ‘head’s up’ as to whether or not an organization, institution or business is ‘woke’ or not. We can help you prepare and plan the best strategy possible and help you make confident, comfortable decisions.

But Geraghty isn’t finished with the school. She has since filed a lawsuit and anticipates the law will land on her side because her and her legal team feel it is a violation of her constitution. Her case is not very different than other well publicized and approved religious exemptions- so this should be no different.

According to Logan Spena, legal counsel for Geraghty, she said:

No school official can force a teacher to set her religious beliefs aside in order to keep her job. The school tried to force Vivian to recite as true the school’s viewpoint on issues that go to the foundation of morality and human identity, like what makes us male or female, by ordering her to personally participate in the social transition of her students. The First Amendment prohibits that abuse of power.”

We here at Align Us want to empower people by giving them the power to discover an organizations political ideation before choosing to engage with them.

And if that information doesn’t exist on our platform, we give our users the capability to add the organization to our database to include adding images and comments to their experience.

The idea is to provide the information for the next person considering pursuing that organization. What better way than with Align Us.
