Beloved Cartoon Family ‘Bluey’ Criticized Over 'Fat-Shaming' Scene

One of Australia's most beloved cartoon families, Bluey, came under fire from the left after the cartoon family's father stepped on the weight scale to show he was overweight.

Bluey, an Australian preschool animated television series that debuted in 2018, has long since been considered a wholesome, family-friendly show. It has gained a reputation for being non-woke as it focuses on the nuclear, traditional family that loves and shows support to one another.

A recent episode started with the father of the Bluey family, Bandit, brushing his teeth in the bathroom and then walking over to the weight scale. Upon seeing his weight, he groans in disappointment. When questioned by the son, Bluey, whom the series is named after, the father simply says he needs to do some exercise. The father then grabs his stomach, pinching the fat area.

One of the reasons the show is so popular among kids and families is that the stories often relate to everyday, real-life scenarios.

What dad can't relate to a few extra pounds, which in fact, is a trendy figure known as a "dadbod."

A Leftist Frenzy

The scene, which many people can relate to, set off the woke community into a frenzy. They labeled the scene as "bad for kids" because it is "fat shaming" people and sends the wrong message to children.

One such critic is Aussie Girl Margie, a popular YouTuber who spends an inordinate and somewhat obsessive amount of time reviewing Bluey episodes for subtle meanings but still manages to have nearly 80k subscribers.

Aussie Girl Margie, the purple-haired married mother of one, took to YouTube and vlogged about the "weight scale" scene.

"I'm so mad about this episode, and I don't think I've ever been this mad, sad, and disappointed about a Bluey episode," Margie told her audience.

"Just the catalyst was just not it… and that was the bathroom scene. And in particular, the scenes of Bandit and Chili on the scales being disappointed with what they saw. And also Bandit squeezing his fat in front of the girls… it was just… oh so triggering," she added.

She wasn't the only one.

Countless liberal media personalities and influencers called the scene out as triggering and fat shaming and should be removed immediately.

The creators of Bluey did ultimately remove the bathroom scene amid mounting pressure. There is growing concern that Bluey will continue to cave into liberal demands to be more inclusive and eventually fully woke.

Online conservative political commentator Matt Walsh recently stated, "This is the left's rules for children's entertainment. It cannot be normal. It cannot be wholesome. And it cannot encourage moral or physical improvement. The last rule is the most important to them."

He continued, "And as long as 'Bluey' continues to violate these rules, it will remain a target who won't be satisfied until 'Bluey' is rewritten as a show about morbidly obese gay dogs with body dysmorphia and clinical depression. For now, it is 'Bluey's' cancellers who are today canceled."

The Value of Our Woke Meter

There have yet to be any indications that Bluey will become woke, but that is always possible.

Sometimes organizations cave into liberal pressure and change their entire platform to accommodate the woke mob. Others remain steadfast and stay committed to their conservative beliefs.

And this is precisely why we have a woke meter.

Organizations change, businesses change, philosophies change, and people change. We don’t want to simply label a company as ‘woke or not’ and then move on to another. We want to provide levels of political beliefs and have that label be adjustable.

That's another essential reason for your feedback, reviews, and comments. Our metrics use careful qualitative and quantitative datasets to accurately measure the organization's political preferences, if any.

So, continue reviewing and commenting – we’ll do the rest.

Bluey is one of the last, wholesome cartoons that can be shown to kids without fear of indoctrination. It's a shame, though understandable, that they caved to the woke beast and edited the show, but I personally will continue to watch the show with my kids. If they were to ever start pushing the woke agenda, that would change immediately, however.
