Align Us CEO Carl Higbie, former Navy SEAL and Newsmax personality, recognized a troubling trend of businesses pushing political ideology through their business, creating conflicts. So he developed the Align Us app - and this is who we are, what we do and why.
There's no doubt about it; our country is divided. In the days, months and few years following the devastating events of 9-11, our country was unified. We all wanted justice, we all wanted to prevent another devastating attack. And every American was ok with taking the fight to them.
We were all on the same team.
But since the global war on terror has slowly subsided, the country started to become divided. Many people speculate this is directly related to the rise and influence of social media. Others feel mainstream media has been cashing in on the division and further pushing hatred through their mediums.
This division gave rise to a "woke" movement that insisted on change, regardless of those who opposed.
This issue hit a significant turning point after the George Floyd incident and in combination with the covid lockdowns of 2020.
It was the powder keg that needed to be lit.
The Impact of the Division
Regardless of when the division started or when it went "too far", it has manifested itself into everyday society for regular Americans.
In just the last few months, there have been several cases where businesses have implemented political beliefs into some of their decisions.
Earlier this year, Chase bank unexpectedly closed an account belonging to a conservative nonprofit organization, The National Committee for Religious Freedom. Chase reportedly offered to consider reinstating the account if the nonprofit provided a donor list.
In another disappointing case, a Fox News analyst, Gianno Caldwell, was reportedly asked not to return to a local restaurant after the owner overheard his conversation and disagreed with his political beliefs. Caldwell, a black American, later called it reminiscent of the days of segregation.
And recently, Airbnb canceled the account belonging to a family member of a banned person. The banned person is Lauren Southern, a popular conservative Canadian social media influencer. It was reported that the family's account was canceled solely on the grounds of being related to Southern - crossing a peculiar line. Airbnb later reversed the decision, citing a "mistake" after the story made national headlines.
The Need for Our App
These cases are just a handful of stories that are happening across the country as we speak, most unreported to the media. Business owners, both large and small, are implementing some of their personal political beliefs into their business model. It was recently reported that Bank of America stopped lending money to some gun manufacturers.
Another issue we recognized was that many businesses may be more discreet about pushing any politically motivated agendas. Some businesses monetarily support causes and organizations that are politically polarizing. Allstate Insurance has reportedly supported and donated to Planned Parenthood, a pro-abortion organization. This is a very sensitive, even offensive topic to the conservative population.
We created our platform so users can find out more information about a business or organization. We want to give consumers knowledge so that they can choose who they do business with and ultimately better control where their money goes, if anywhere. The mere thought of a conservative shopper spending money with a company who donates to causes such as Planned Parenthood is at the very least, troubling.
This dynamic goes both ways.
We offer consumers the opportunity to research and choose like-minded organizations to do business with. We want to "align us" all with our own kind - with the Align Us app.
